[ mood | anxious ]

I literally slept for 14 hours yesterday

re god damn diculous

but Ryan came up and we went to some random club in Hollywood to see Dane Cook, among others

It was great cause we sat right up front & Dane made fun of me a few times and I made him laugh a couple times
it was rad. I love that guy

then he got in this fight with some dumb fucking chick at the end

she just could not take a joke, it was lame.

so afterwards we went to say hi and, to me, he was like "thank you for coming and thank you, thank you for playing along."
he's such a nice guy.

PS.
I WANT TO SING IN A SKA BAND
so if anyone wants to start one up, lemme know!

Oscar Nominees [Saturday February 26, 2005 8:33pm]
[ mood | busy ]

I know I am doing this late, but I want to and I am bored at work.

"Prediction" = what I think the academy will pick
"Preference" = what I want to win

BEST PICTURE
prediction: THE AVIATOR
preference: THE AVIATOR

** I am not, by any means, a Scorcese fan..honestly. But he has never won an academy award and this movie has "oscar" written all over it. Not to mention that it was pretty good, not amazing, but pretty darn good.

BEST ACTOR IN A LEADING ROLE>
prediction: JAIME FOXX
preference: LEONARDO DICAPIRO or JOHNNY DEPP

** Ok, I have been watching the oscars since I was at least 4 or 5...I know how the voting works and what type of people are on the academy. But for the love of God, someone please give Leonardo an oscar! He is an amazing actor, fuck anyone who disagrees with me. He was really good in Aviator as well, it may not have been that hard of a part to pull off..I mean Howard Hughes is not that complex of an individual but he was good none the less. On that same note, Johnny Depp is another amazing actor who has yet to be recognized for his talent and I think Finding Neverland is his best performance yet. It just really sucks that they both have to be up against Jaime Foxx who has never done anything even remotely Oscar worthy until now, which I find to be ridiculous -no matter how good of a performance he did in Ray. If Ray Charles hadn't died this year, I bet this wouldnt have been such a big god damn deal.

BEST ACTOR IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
prediction: MORGAN FREEMAN
preference: THOMAS HAYDEN CHURCH

** I thought Morgan Freeman was good in Million Dollar Baby but I think Thomas Hayden Church really really suprised everyone which is always nice to see. As good as he is, it seems like Freeman plays the same guy in every movie. And if they gave awards for that then Keanu Reeves should have like 35 oscars by now ;)

BEST ACTRESS IN A LEADING ROLE
prediction: HILARY SWANK
preference: CATALINA SANDINO MORENO

** Hilary Swank is just flat out, a really talented actress. However, Catalina Sandino Moreno was just as good as Swank and she is a newcomer. Not to mention how good Maria Full of Grace was.

BEST ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE
prediction: CATE BLANCHETT
preference: CATE BLANCHETT

** I agree that Blanchett did not play that great of a Katherine Hepburn, but she is honestly the best on the list of nominees. I didn't see Hotel Rwanda though. Virgina Madsen was definetly good, but I really don't think oscar worthy good.

BEST DIRECTOR
prediction: CLINT EASTWOOD
preference: ALEXANDER PAYNE

** I would say Scorcese but I think they are gonna give him the Best Picture nod, and then they gotta give one to Clint Eastwood. It could be the other way around, but I think this is how it's gonna go. Once again, I don't like Scorcese so I wouldn't pick him. Payne is a phenomenal director and I thought Sideways was directed retardedly well

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
prediction: MILLION DOLLAR BABY
prefernce: FINDING NEVERLAND

** I just wish Finding Neverland wasn't up against all these movies cause it was so good and so touching.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY
prediction: ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND
preference: ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND

** even the old farts at the academy cannot deny how original and brillant this screenplay was... COME ON !!!!

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY
prediction: THE AVIATOR
preference: THE AVIATOR

** I think the only thing that stand against it is probably the house of flying daggers but it looks just like crouching tiger.

BEST COSTUME DESIGN
prediction: THE AVIATOR
preference: LEMONY SNICKET's A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

** Basically, Colleen Atwood is an amazing costime designer. She's done almost all of Burton's film & Snicket's was nothing to sneeze at. Really well done, but she won two years ago for Chicago and I think the academy wants to give a lot to Aviator this year. Plus, the costumes were really good in Aviator too, I just think Snicket's were better.

BEST ART DIRECTION
prediction: THE AVIATOR
preference: LEMONY SNICKET's A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

** The same thing goes for this category as it did in the last - Aviator was good but Lemony Snicket's was far more original and quirky.

BEST ANIMATED FILM
prediction: THE INCREDIBLES
preference: THE INCREDIBLES

** duh....

BEST MAKEUP
prediction: THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST
preference: LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS

** Everyone is buzzing about how the academy feels they "need" to give one to the passion so I guess this is the category, even though Lemony Snicket's was far, far more superior. And thats just unfair, its a makeup category not..."oh this movie was about Jesus, therefore we HAVE to give it at least one oscar" category...not to mention I don't think Jesus would be too happy with his oscar nod being for makeup...psh

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE
prediction: HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN(John Williams)
preference: THE VILLAGE (James Newton Howard)

** Truthfully, this category makes me the most upset...becaues John Williams is going to win simply because he's John Williams and he always wins. When the score for The Village was so hauntingly beautiful and I have listened to the score for Harry Potter. It is SO MUCH BETTER! ....bah

BEST ORGINAL SONG
prediction: "ACCIDENTALLY IN LOVE" (Shrek 2)
I have no preference, they all suck.

BEST SOUND EDITING
prediction: SPIDER-MAN 2
preference: SPIDER-MAN 2

** even if it is jsut for techinal awards, I am SO GLAD spiderman is being recognized !!!

BEST SOUND MIXING
prediction: RAY
preference: RAY

BEST VISUAL EFFECTS
prediction: SPIDER-MAN 2
preference: SPIDER-MAN 2

Basically, I can't stand the oscar's - but I have to watch them and get really into them EVERY YEAR...cause I'm a total sucker for Hollywood and all of its antagonizing bullshit. It sucks because the movies that really need and should win or be nominated never are ! Not that Million Dollar Baby or The Aviator don't deserve to win, but "old" Hollywood and things like that always overshadow other movies. I mean, ok, it isn't always like (ex. Sixth Sense or American Beauty) that but for the most part it is. Sometimes I just feel like the academy is just way to outdated, but whatever..it's just rich and famous people giving other rich & famous people awards.

Well, grab your drink and clear a space I think it's time to torch this place [Tuesday February 22, 2005 2:45pm]
[ mood | energetic ]

Don't you love the ability music has to completely change your mood?

I am so retardedly obsessed with Anberlin

I saw them at the House of Blues on sunday night. I haven't gotten that giddy over seeing a band in a while

I have been listening to them for almost a year now but this show just solidified their amazingness in my mind.

I miss going to shows, but I think I miss what it used to feel like. Now everyone just annoys me most of the time.

So I bought a poster and had Stephen, the singer, sign in....I felt like SUCH a nerd but it as important to me, for some reason. I couldn't stop talking about how brilliant I think they are
I'm sure he thought I was crazy (which I am) but that's fine heh.

-----------------

I saw Constantine on saturday night
y'know...I really liked it
It may be the fact that I have a weird interest in deamonology, exorcism's & the occult (yeah, yeah..I'm a freak.)

It wasn't a whole lot like the graphic novel, from what I rememeber
but Keanu wasn't 1/2 bad....people don't give him enough credit

Plus Shia LeBeouf is in it...

and I have a bit of a high school crush on him

speaking of that, I've realized I'm either attracted to boys who are way to young or way too old for me.
go figure..

I finally signed up for Netflix
and I can order every season of the X Files
FUCK YES!

ps. lightning during the day sucks
all the car alarms are going off from the thunder.

storms make me so happy.

[ mood | tired ]

I was bored in class today so I made this up

1. List your 20 favorite bands
2. explain where, when & from whom you 1st head them (& if there is a funny story that corresponds with it)
3. what was the 1st song you heard?
4. What is your favorite song now?

in no particular order...

1.INCUBUS:
- at my best friends house, her older brother was playing S.C.I.E.N.C.E & I had a huge crush on him at the time so I would always hang out in his room. They became the first "real" band I ever liked.
- 1st song: "A Certain Shade Of Green"
- Fav. Song: "Echo: off Morning View

2. THE POLICE:
- My dad first played them for me while I was in the womb, apparantly but I remember listening to them as early as 7. What's funny is that when I was 9 my two favorite bands were NKOTB and The Police.
- 1st song: "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da"
- Fav song: "Walking On The Moon"

3. GLASSJAW:
- I randomly saw the video for "Cosmopolitan Bloodloss" on MTV in , like, 2001 and Vincent Gallo is in it (I love him) so I immediately fell in love, for many reasons.
- 1st song: "Cosmopolitan Bloodloss"
- Fav. song: "Ape Dos Mil"

4. COHEED & CAMBRIA :
- I had a friend who was dating the guy who ran We The People Records & we would hang out at his office/studio a lot. He had a friend there one night from PA (this was in 2001) and played them for me and my friend Carly.
- 1st song: "Time Consumer"
- Fav. song: "Devil In Jersey City"

5. DEPECHE MODE:
- TO be honest, the first time I heard a DM song was in a Gap commercial, the one a long time ago, but other people were singing it. It had Alex Greenwald from Phantom Planet in it & it was like "Everybody in Vests" (I don't know if anyone will remember it)...anyways, I was in 8th grade so I was 14 & I was so obsessed with that commercial & Alex Greenwald & the song.
- 1st song: "Just Can't Get Enough"
- Fav. song: "Enjoy The Silence"

6. ANBERLIN:
- This guy I was "dating", Sam, he had them playing in his car when he picked me up one night back in like May or June of 2004
- 1st song: "Readyfuels"
- Fav. song: "Glass To The Arson"

7. BLINK 182:
- I swear, I can't remember. It was in the 7th grade...it might have been from one of the boys in my class who was really into music and would talk to me about it.
- 1st song: "M + M's"
- Fav. song: "Voyuer"

8. EVERYTIME I DIE:
- Well I saw them once in San Diego in 2003, open for Hopesfall and Coheed...& then my ex boyfriend Dustin furthur introduced me to them.
- 1st song: "The Logic of Crocidiles"
- Fav. song: "I been gone a long time"

9. DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE:
- It was at least 2-3 years ago & it was either from Lauren, my roomate, or my friend Matt.
- 1st song: "We Laugh Indoors"
- Fav song: "I Was A Kaleidoscope"

10. RADIOHEAD:
- I first heard them in Romeo & Juliet and I was completely obsessed with that one song, but I actually didn't like a single other song. But thanks to my dear friend Matthew Alan, I realized the genius - way after the rest of the population.
- 1st song: "Talk Show Host"
- Fav. song: "Talk Show Host"

11. MURDER BY DEATH:
- Ther were suggested to me by the chick who does my hair cause I play the cello. And I was wicked confused cause, on account of their name, I thought they were a hardcore band. This was less then a year ago.
- 1st song: "The Devil In Mexico"
- Fav. song: "The Desert Is On Fire"

12. FOLLY:
- I read about them in Alternative Press & they said they sounded like "ska-metalcore" so I had to give them a listen. This was probably about a year and 1/2 ago.
- 1st song: "I've Been Running for Miles, Davis"
- Fav. song: "The City is Drowning"

13. INTERPOL:
- My roomate used to play their first album constantly & then "Antics" came out & she would always play that in her car, and now I can't stop listening to it. So I only really got into them about 6 months ago
- 1st song: "NYC"
- Fav. song: "Evil"

14. RX BANDITS:
- When I was in the 10th grade my friends and I were at the spectrum in Irvine & we started talking to this boy who had a "Pharmacutical Bandits" shirt on & we were interoggating him about them. I kinda forgot about them until I found then on the Drive Thru website, known now as the RX Bandits.
- 1st song: "What If"
- Fav. song: "Status"

15. NEW FOUND GLORY:
- In 2000, I read an article about them going on tour with Blink, whom I was seeing soon, so I bought the CD while I was in San Fran. They are also the band I've seen the most live, which is at least 18 time the last time I counted.
- 1st song: "3rd & long"
- Fav. song: "Sincerely Me"

16. REEL BIG FISH:
- They are kind of a staple in OC, but my 1st boyfriend in the 9th grade played them ALL THE TIME, so that is how I intially got into them.
- 1st song: "Sellout"
- Fav. song: "The Kids DOn't Like It"

17. UNDEROATH:
- Definetly from mr. Dustin Brian Robins. so in like...errr April 2003
- 1st song: "When The Sun Sleeps"
- Fav song: "I'm Content With Losing"

18. THE ALBUM LEAF:
- I heard a song on an episode of The OC and I didn't a frantic search to figure it out, and I did cause I'm a sniper. So that was last summer...Sept. 2004
- 1st song: "Streamside"
- Fav. song: "Eastern Glow"

19. EVERGREEN TERRACE:
- I first heard of them from Chris Perkins a friggan long time ago, like 4 years ago or something...I first started listening to them in 2003.
- 1st song: "No Donnie, These Men Are Nihilist's"
- Fav. song: "My Heart Beats In Breakdowns"

20. FRENCH KICKS:
- My friend Matt's band opened for them at a show at Chain Reaction in high school, probably Jr year so when I was 17 (2001)
- 1st song: no idea
- Fav. song: "When You Heard You"

do it kids.
you know you want to.

Well, everyone do me a favor and think good thoughts tomorrow at 7:15 AM pacific standard time

I was having a kick ass hair day today.

Have a fantastic week kids
